JUST WOOD IT:
Your Perfect Project

This industry-focused activity retraced the process of designing a piece of furniture through six major stages, where visitors were invited to participate, ask questions, and experiment. All within an eco-friendly approach, promoting best practices and the right habits to adopt. The finished furniture pieces were donated to a school, allowing the younger generation to benefit from sustainable furniture.

THE DIFFERENT STAGES

Step 1: Discover the Industry

General information about the sector, knowledge tests… This first step helped you understand the importance of the interdependence between different segments of the wood industry in completing a project, as well as the current state of the sector.

Step 2: Design the Project

Discover design software through a live demo. Then it’s your turn!
Test the software and engrave your furniture piece.

Step 3: Wood Library

Building your piece is great, but using the right materials is even better. Learn the differences between wood species, their technical constraints, and the impact of choosing the right wood and its origin.

Step 4: Want to leave a message engraved in wood?

It’s time to test your engraving program live on the laser engraver! Leave a message for future generations who will enjoy your creation.

Step 5: Assembly

Once your piece is engraved, you’ll assemble everything to create the final product and bring your project to life.

Step 6: The End

To complete the process, you’ll apply a finishing oil. Admire your work! You’ve built your own furniture!
Organized by Les Compagnons du Devoir, Just Wood It also offers the chance to attend expert demonstrations in carpentry and spatial geometry.
