Floating rotor debarker
As its name suggests, this debarker is equipped with a rotor that moves vertically and automatically centres itself according to the diameter of the logs. The wood is carried on fixed crawler tracks and held by pressers mounted on bogies on brackets that move vertically thanks to hydraulic cylinders. All mechanical movements are controlled by a programmable logic controller that processes signals received from optical and ultrasonic sensors positioned on the machine. Thanks to its compact design, this machine is capable of efficiently debarking both short logs and long logs, even twisted ones.
Floating rotor debarkers can be equipped with two different rotor diameters: 1000 and 1100 mm, for minimum log diameters of 120 mm and minimum lengths of 1.3 m.
The rotors are equipped with five debarking arms fitted with interchangeable carbide tools pressurised by pneumatic bellows cylinders.
Depending on the species and diameter of the wood, debarking speeds range from 20 to 40 m/min.
